Have You Heard About My Review of Blade of the Destroyer: The Last Bucelarii by Andy Peloquin?

This author is really getting to me. I almost don’t know what to write. Blade of the Destroyer: The Last Bucelarii by Andy Peloquin was not what I expected. I expected something more along the lines of the first book I read of his, Child of the Night Guild, which is a huge ten star read. Nope. Such was not the case. First of all, huge kudos to the author for writing a series so different from his Night Guild series, yet one that could easily be a true crossover, with aplomb.

Voramis, a neighboring city to Praamis, is the home of the Hunter, an oxymoron if I’ve ever read one. Do I love the Hunter? Oh, yessss!!! Do I wonder WHY I love the Hunter? Definitely!!! Yet, the multifaceted Hunter hath stolen my very heart. He is emotionless; yet, full of feelings. He is devastation; yet, he is creation. He is death; yet is he life.

This is a dark fantasy experience. I know of no other way to describe my journey through this fast-paced, heartbreaking, beautiful, tormenting story. Andy Peloquin weaves a tale in which the reader’s heart will suffer right along with the characters in this riveting novel. You know when, as a child, your sibling(s) and you would watch a show on television and say, “I’m him,” or “I’m her.” Remember? Yeah, you won’t be doing that with this fascinating story, but you will love the Hunter. You simply will not be able to help yourself.

If you haven’t read any of Andy Peloquin’s work, I HIGHLY URGE you to do so, posthaste. You are missing OUT! Not only do his stories flow with life, passion (not in the classical sense), determination, hatred, pain, and love, there are no plot holes, no pauses in reading where you stop and re-read a sentence over and over, trying to figure out what the writer meant. No. You’ll find no hesitations, no pauses-except the ones where you’re just so shocked you have to take a few second break. But that’s all you’ll take – a few seconds – because you will not want to put this book down. The best news of all?? Books two and three are out now, so you don’t have to wait!! Yay! I can’t wait to delve into another journey with Andy Peloquin’s characters!!!
